Richelle Sipiora
Physical Therapist Richelle Sipiora, came to Mid Coast Hospital after 25 years living in other parts of the United States. After living her whole life in landlocked areas, she very much enjoys living near the ocean and the smell of saltwater.

Here at Mid Coast, Richelle works with both inpatients and outpatients in physical therapy. Her specialty is facial pain especially those problems related to temporamandibular dysfunction. "I like the staff at Mid Coast Hospital,” she says, "and the opportunity to return people to independence.

Previously, Richelle has worked as a burn specialist, physical therapist for the Denver Nuggets basketball team, member of the board of the Arthritis Foundation, was Volunteer of the Year (2002) for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and is past president of Gender Equity in Math and Science, a local organization in Loveland, Colorado, that supports science enrichment for girls in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades.

Richelle is a serious runner. In addition to shorter races, Richelle has competed in 10 marathons in Maine, Vermont, Chicago, Las Vegas, Denver, Boise, and Quad Cities (Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, and Moline and Rock Island, Illinois). Her best time was 3 hours and 42 minutes.

"I run as a way to keep fit and maintain my sanity,” she says. "I ran my fastest 5K ever as a 46-year-old. That surprised and thrilled me.” As a member of the Maine Corporate Track Team, she runs the half mile and the mile, and throws the discus. She is also involved in the Senior Games and participates in Master's Track & Field events in New England.

Richelle earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at Marquette University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) in 1983.
