Jacob Furey, MD

Orthopedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Center
Jacob Furey
When Jacob Furey, MD, left Maine to obtain his undergraduate degree at Princeton, he knew that he would one day return. A third generation Mainer, he went to Portland High School where he developed his interest for Science and History, as well as a passion for helping others.

Medicine was in his future from the start. Aside from choosing Tufts University School of Medicine, the harder choice was whether to become a surgeon. An athlete himself, he ultimately chose orthopedic surgery where he felt he could have the biggest impact on peoples’ lives.

After further exposure to a variety of surgical disciplines, Dr. Furey completed his fellowship in Joint Replacement at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts. After marrying a fellow Mainer and starting a family of his own, it was time for him to return home to Maine. Now closer to family with the ability to raise his children with the quality of life that Maine offers, Dr. Furey feels at home once again.
