As part of the $6.2 million dollar renovation of the Parkview campus, Mid Coast Hospital recently unveiled a new state-of-the-art primary care practice on the second floor of the former hospital, located at 329 Maine Street in Brunswick. Mid Coast Medical Group – Family Practice at Parkview opened on Monday, June 12.

"We regularly emphasize primary care as the foundation of healthcare and an essential component of keeping individuals healthy and well,” said Scott Mills, MD, Vice President of Medical Staff Administration and Chief Medical Officer of Mid Coast–Parkview Health. "We built this new practice to meet the growing need within our community and are fortunate to have three providers available, improving access to routine and preventative care for children and adults.”

Margaret Wheeler, DO
Physicians Suzanne Carr, MD, and Margaret Wheeler, DO, are joined by Hana Pelletier, FNP-C, in offering primary care for the entire family. Board certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Carr earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at Medical Center of Delaware. Dr. Wheeler completed her medical degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by the Maine–Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency in Augusta, Maine. Hana Pelletier completed her Family/Community Nurse Practitioner program at Husson University in Maine.

Joe Grant, Vice President of Operations and Systems at Mid Coast–Parkview Health, commented, "As we began the renovation of the Parkview facility, we quickly realized the potential for reuse of the space for practices and services that were needed in the community. Together with our Board, we made the decision to utilize this campus for services that support our mission to transform healthcare and improve the overall health of the community.”

The new family practice comprises almost 10,000 square feet of the total 33,000-square foot campus renovation. The space was designed and built to accommodate delivery of preventive and chronic disease care, as well as integrated behavioral health counseling.

This advanced model of adult care practice, known as a Patient-Centered Medical Home, is proven to improve patient outcomes and lower costs of healthcare.
