Thomas Kivler, LCPC, CCS, Director of Behavioral Health at Mid Coast Hospital, has been named one of ten fellows in the inaugural class of the John T. Gorman Fellowship, a leadership program for nonprofit and public sector professionals offered by the John T. Gorman Foundation. The program aims to help participants become more focused on results and build the vision, confidence, and competence required to advance change and improve the lives of vulnerable people in Maine.

At Mid Coast Hospital, Kivler provides leadership for all aspects of the wide-ranging Behavioral Health Division and oversees the outpatient behavioral health services, including the Addiction Resource Center.

Additionally,he works to integrate behavioral health services across the continuum of Mid Coast Health Services through emergency, inpatient, primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, and elder care.

Through this fellowship opportunity, Kivler intends to strengthen our collaboration with area experts and providers to promote children’s mental health and the healthy development of children.

Understanding the long-term impact of behavioral and mental health challenges facing young children, young adults, and families, he recognizes the critical need to address these issues early.
