Last week, May 7-13, Mid Coast Hospital celebrated National Hospital Week with a variety of events aimed at thanking physicians, nurses, and staff for delivering compassionate, high quality care every day.

During Hospital week, special recognition was given to the more than 500 nurses working throughout Mid Coast–Parkview Health. During "Nurses Week,” senior administration, direct supervisors, and colleagues honored the diverse ways that registered nurses work to save lives and improve the health of individuals.

Kristin Anthony, RNC, MSN, NEA-BC, Vice President for Nursing and Patient Care Services at Mid Coast–Parkview Health said, "Nurses week is an opportunity for us to thank the outstanding nursing staff for the excellent care provided to each of our patients.”

Special recognition events were planned for nurses across the organization including at CHANS Home Health & Hospice,Mid Coast Senior Health Center, Mid Coast Hospital, and Mid Coast Medical Group.

Traditionally, Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which registered nurses work to improve healthcare. From bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities, to office and home visiting nurses, to academic and research institutions, state legislatures, and Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding healthcare needs.

Mid Coast Hospital is the only community hospital in Maine to have achieved national recognition as a Magnet Hospital, an honor bestowed on only 7% of the hospitals in the country for exceptional nursing and patient care. Magnet hospitals are known to have better patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and nursing satisfaction, as well as lower nursing staff turnover.

"We are so grateful for all of the nurses working throughout Mid Coast–Parkview Health for their hard work and dedication to the nursing profession. It is because of this that our health system is nationally known for excellence in patient care. From providing exceptional care to running vital programs in our community, we are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of this region,” said Anthony.
