Community Health Celebrated at Mid Coast Hospital Golf Tournament


Mid Coast Hospital held its 24th Annual Golf Fore! Health Classic on September 13 at the Brunswick Golf Club. More than 134 golfers participated in this year’s event, raising $55,562 to support health education programs offered by Mid Coast Hospital’s Center for Community Health and Wellness. The proceeds from this annual golf tournament directly support the Mid Coast Center for Community Health and Wellness, offering quality health information, education, and resources.

"Every year, we are so grateful to our players and sponsors, as well as our volunteers and staff, for making this tournament such a success,” said Lois Skillings, President and CEO of Mid Coast–Parkview Health. "This year we are especially excited as we continue the renovations to the Parkview campus, we will open our brand new Center for Community Health and Wellness in December. This new center will include a teaching kitchen, medical exercise facility, space for education, resources, and counseling, helping our community members prevent disease and restore health and wellness.”

Programs offered by the Center focus on cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, medical exercise, weight loss, stress reduction, tobacco cessation, and asthma education. New initiatives include medical exercise for cancer, stroke, and other chronic diseases, as well as reestablishment of a long-time community favorite, "Lifestyle Choices.”

It is wonderful to see so many businesses and community members come out to support the health of their community,” said Cate Parker, Director of Mid Coast Hospital’s Center for Community Health and Wellness. "The funds that we raise at this tournament are directly used to increase programming opportunities for those looking to improve their health and manage chronic diseases.”
