The DAISY Award is an ongoing recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful and compassionate care nurses provide every day.
Active in over 3,000 healthcare facilities around the world, The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at the age of 33 from complications of the autoimmune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). During Patrick’s hospitalization, his family appreciated the skill and compassion demonstrated by Patrick’s nurses, and felt compelled to show their gratitude.
At Mid Coast–Parkview Health, honorees are chosen throughout the year. Honorees can be nominated by patients, families, or colleagues, and they will be chosen by a committee of Mid Coast–Parkview Health staff.
All nurses at Mid Coast–Parkview Health are eligible for the award, including those working at Mid Coast Hospital, Mid Coast Senior Health, CHANS Home Health & Hospice, Mid Coast Medical Group, as well as the Mid Coast Hospital Walk-In Clinic and Mid Coast Hospital Parkview Campus.
To nominate a non-nurse team member, please submit a nomination for The Spotlight Award instead.
